El 20 de octubre de 2025, una delegación del Ejército de Chile partió hacia España para integrarse al Ejercicio de Operaciones Especiales “Empecinado”, una de las actividades multinacionales más relevantes en el ámbito de las fuerzas especiales. El entrenamiento se desarrollará entre el 20 y el 31 de octubre en las ciudades de Alicante y Valencia, con la participación de unidades de España, Estados Unidos, Turquía y Chile.
La representación chilena está conformada por trece efectivos —dos oficiales y once suboficiales— pertenecientes a la Brigada de Operaciones Especiales “Lautaro”, unidad dependiente del Comando de Operaciones Terrestres. Su participación tiene como objetivo fortalecer la interoperabilidad con fuerzas aliadas, certificar capacidades operativas bajo los estándares de la OTAN y compartir experiencias en entornos simulados de conflicto asimétrico.
Durante las maniobras, los participantes ejecutarán misiones combinadas de reconocimiento, infiltración, rescate y acción directa, enmarcadas en un escenario de guerra irregular. El ejercicio incluye un periodo previo de integración y entrenamiento conjunto, orientado a la homologación de técnicas, tácticas y procedimientos (TTP) empleados por las distintas unidades de operaciones especiales participantes.
El director de Operaciones del Ejército de Chile, general de brigada Carlos Muñoz D., destacó que la presencia chilena en “Empecinado” responde a un proceso de cooperación sostenido con las fuerzas de operaciones especiales de España, y que esta experiencia permite adquirir conocimientos sobre tácticas y procedimientos de nivel internacional, además de transmitir las propias metodologías nacionales al ámbito aliado.
