El 19 de octubre de 2025, las Fuerzas Armadas de Lituania recibieron los dos primeros helicópteros UH-60M Black Hawk, entregados por Estados Unidos (EUA) en el marco del programa bilateral de cooperación en defensa. El acto de recepción se realizó en una base aérea militar lituana con la presencia de autoridades del Ministerio de Defensa Nacional y representantes del Comando Europeo de Estados Unidos (EUCOM).
La incorporación forma parte del proceso de modernización de las capacidades aéreas impulsado por los países bálticos tras la invasión rusa a Ucrania. Lituania busca sustituir sus antiguos Mil Mi-8 de origen soviético por aeronaves occidentales con mayor interoperabilidad dentro de la OTAN. El contrato original, firmado en 2020, preveía la compra de cuatro UH-60M Black Hawk, tras las gestiones oficiales entre los ministerios de defensa de ambos países y la correspondiente aprobación del Departamento de Estado de EUA.
El cronograma inicial establecía la entrega para fines de 2024, pero los plazos fueron ajustados por cuestiones logísticas y de producción. Con la llegada de las dos primeras unidades, se confirmó que los dos helicópteros restantes serán entregados durante 2026. La operación tiene un valor total de USD 380 millones, incluyendo entrenamiento de tripulaciones, repuestos, apoyo logístico y equipamiento complementario.
Los UH-60M Black Hawk permitirán a la Fuerza Aérea de Lituania mejorar su capacidad de transporte táctico, evacuación médica y apoyo a operaciones conjuntas de la OTAN. Los helicópteros fueron fabricados por Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation (Lockheed Martin) y entregados bajo el marco del programa Foreign Military Sales (FMS) del gobierno estadounidense.
