El 21 de octubre de 2025 se llevó a cabo la botadura del buque Victory en el astillero Benoi de ST Engineering. Se trata del primer ejemplar de la nueva clase Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), con la que la Marina de la República de Singapur inicia una renovación estructural de su flota hacia plataformas modulares capaces de operar sistemas no tripulados. Tras su puesta a flote, el buque será trasladado a las instalaciones de Gul para completar la etapa de alistamiento e integración de sistemas.
Con un desplazamiento de 8.000 toneladas y una eslora de 150 metros, el Victory es el buque de superficie más grande construido hasta ahora para la marina singapurense. Su diseño combina las funciones de una fragata con las de un buque de base, permitiendo operar de manera integrada drones aéreos, de superficie y submarinos. En total se prevé la construcción de seis unidades de esta clase, que reemplazarán a las corbetas de misiles clase Victory en servicio desde los años noventa.
El MRCV está concebido como una plataforma adaptable a distintos tipos de misión. Cuenta con un banco modular capaz de alojar hasta ocho contenedores de seis metros, lo que permite reconfigurar rápidamente su equipamiento para operaciones de combate, apoyo logístico o tareas humanitarias. Dispone además de un sistema de lanzamiento y recuperación de embarcaciones menores y drones en popa, una grúa lateral para carga y una cubierta de vuelo apta para helicópteros medianos y vehículos aéreos no tripulados.
Su armamento incluye un cañón Leonardo Strales de 76 mm, dos estaciones Typhoon MK 30-c y sistemas de misiles MICA y Aster. También está en capacidad de incorporar misiles antibuque Blue Spear, desarrollados por Proteus. El buque utiliza un sistema de propulsión eléctrica integrada que alimenta tanto la planta motriz como los sensores y las armas, mediante una red de alta tensión.
El diseño fue desarrollado por Saab Kockums en cooperación con ST Engineering, e incorpora una superestructura de fibra de carbono que reduce el peso, mejora la firma de sigilo y ofrece mayor resistencia a la corrosión. Durante la ceremonia, el ministro de Defensa, Chan Chun Sing, destacó que el MRCV “no es solo un buque, sino un sistema capaz de evolucionar según la misión”.
