Entre el 22 de octubre y el 4 de noviembre de 2025, la provincia de Alicante y zonas adyacentes de Valencia, Murcia y Albacete fueron escenario del ejercicio militar “Empecinado 25”, principal maniobra anual del Mando de Operaciones Especiales (MOE) del Ejército de Tierra español, con sede en Rabasa. En la actividad participaron más de 580 efectivos pertenecientes a distintas unidades de las Fuerzas Armadas españolas y a contingentes aliados.
El Ejercicio “Empecinado”, que lleva el nombre del guerrillero castellano Juan Martín Díez, constituye el principal evento de adiestramiento del MOE. Su objetivo es evaluar las capacidades operativas de las fuerzas especiales en escenarios de combate híbrido y operaciones combinadas, tanto en entornos rurales como urbanos. La edición 2025 fue dirigida por el Grupo de Operaciones Especiales (GOE) IV, con el apoyo del Grupo de Cuartel General y la Unidad Logística del MOE, además de unidades de la Brigada Paracaidista VI, las Fuerzas Aeromóviles del Ejército de Tierra, el Regimiento de Guerra Electrónica 31, el Mando de Tropas de Montaña y la Unidad Enemigo del CENAD San Gregorio, que desempeñó el papel de fuerza adversaria.
Asimismo, intervinieron unidades del Ejército del Aire y del Espacio —incluidas las alas 23, 35 y 48—, la Escuadra de Zapadores Paracaidista y el Centro de Inteligencia y Targeting Aeroespacial. Por parte de la Armada, participó un equipo de la Fuerza de Guerra Naval Especial (FGNE). En el plano internacional, se incorporó un destacamento de Operaciones Especiales del Ejército de Chile, en el marco del programa bilateral de cooperación militar entre ambos países.
La integración de las tropas chilenas permitió el intercambio de procedimientos en técnicas de inserción, reconocimiento, sabotaje y rescate, así como la coordinación de apoyo aéreo y obtención de inteligencia. El ejercicio simuló un escenario de crisis internacional con misiones de infiltración, rescate de personal, sabotaje a infraestructuras críticas y operaciones de reconocimiento profundo, consolidando a Alicante como un eje de adiestramiento multinacional para fuerzas de operaciones especiales.
