El 11 de noviembre, el Ministerio de Defensa de Italia dispuso la adquisición de un conjunto de vehículos destinados a reforzar la movilidad táctica de las unidades de Operaciones Especiales. Los vehículos blindados, por su configuración discreta, se orientan a operaciones en áreas sensibles donde se requiere mayor protección para equipos reducidos. Los GMV, concebidos para desplazamientos a alta velocidad y operar cargados con armamento, adoptarán un diseño similar al Flyer, plataforma empleada por las Operaciones Especiales italianas y caracterizada por su ligereza, modularidad y capacidad para integrar armas en soportes frontales y superiores.
Los sistemas serán distribuidos al 9º Regimiento de Incursori “Col Moschin”, al 185º Regimiento de Adquisición de Objetivos, y al 4º Regimiento Ranger “Monte Cervino”, con asiento en Livorno y Verona.
La adquisición se enmarca en el Programa Plurianual de Modernización y Renovación SMD 28/2025, que abarca el período 2025-2034 y asigna 106 millones de euros para el conjunto del proyecto.
