El 8 de octubre de 2025, el Parlamento alemán aprobó un conjunto de programas de adquisición militar valuados en más de USD 8.140 millones, en el marco del proceso de modernización de la Bundeswehr. La decisión fue impulsada por la Comisión de Presupuestos, que dio luz verde a la compra de veinte nuevos aviones de combate Eurofighter y a varios proyectos complementarios destinados a fortalecer las capacidades operativas de las fuerzas armadas.
La adquisición de los Eurofighter constituye el núcleo del paquete, con un valor estimado de USD 4.360 millones. Las aeronaves estarán dotadas de radares EScan de nueva generación, optimizados para misiones de guerra electrónica. El plan de entrega se desarrollará entre 2031 y 2034, e incluye simuladores, repuestos y sistemas de apoyo logístico. Además, se aprobó la modernización de la flota actual de Eurofighter por USD 1.315 millones, centrada en la capacidad de supresión de defensas aéreas enemigas, con finalización prevista para 2033.
Entre los demás proyectos autorizados se encuentran la adquisición de vehículos blindados Boxer en configuraciones de entrenamiento y evacuación médica, así como un lote de vehículos de combate ligeros aerotransportables destinados a operaciones de despliegue rápido. También se financiará el desarrollo de un sistema de puente de pontones para el cruce de ríos y la incorporación, por parte de la Marina alemana, de embarcaciones de mediano alcance junto con sistemas de sonar avanzados para la detección y neutralización de minas.
El Ministerio de Defensa de Alemania señaló que estas adquisiciones forman parte del esfuerzo estratégico para modernizar la Bundeswehr y consolidar a Alemania como principal potencia militar convencional en Europa. Desde inicios de 2025, la Comisión de Presupuestos ha autorizado 25 programas de gran escala dentro del plan de fortalecimiento de las capacidades nacionales de defensa.
