El 7 de octubre de 2025, las Fuerzas Armadas de Brasil y diversos organismos federales presentaron un balance de las operaciones contra la minería ilegal desarrolladas dentro del territorio Yanomami, situado entre los estados de Amazonas y Roraima. Según el informe oficial, las acciones realizadas en el último año y medio causaron un perjuicio económico estimado en 500 millones de reales a las organizaciones criminales dedicadas a la explotación ilícita de recursos minerales.
Durante este período, las fuerzas conjuntas efectuaron 7.445 operaciones y 40.535 abordajes en el área de operaciones. Como resultado, fueron inutilizadas 62 pistas clandestinas, 41 aeronaves, 368 embarcaciones y 3.560 equipos empleados en la actividad minera ilegal. Además, se desmantelaron 677 campamentos y se confiscaron 154 armas de fuego junto con 22 antenas de comunicación utilizadas para coordinar las operaciones ilícitas.
Las acciones también incluyeron la neutralización de 231,4 kg de mercurio, 269,5 litros de combustible y 160,1 kg de cassiterita, un mineral de elevado valor comercial. Estas actividades se desarrollaron en una región de selva densa, con escasa accesibilidad terrestre y limitada navegabilidad fluvial durante la estación seca, lo que requirió un alto nivel de coordinación logística y aérea.
El dispositivo interinstitucional contó con la participación de la Marinha do Brasil, el Exército Brasileiro, la Força Aérea Brasileira, la Força Nacional, la Polícia Rodoviária Federal, la Fundação Nacional dos Povos Indígenas (Funai) y el Centro Gestor e Operacional do Sistema de Proteção da Amazônia (Censipam), dependiente del Ministerio de Defensa, además de otras agencias de seguridad, inteligencia y control ambiental.
En paralelo a las operaciones de neutralización, la misión mantiene un componente humanitario y logístico, mediante el transporte terrestre, fluvial y aéreo de insumos esenciales y equipamiento —como perforadoras, generadores, materiales de construcción y sistemas fotovoltaicos— destinados a comunidades indígenas y ribeirinhas. Las unidades militares también realizan evacuaciones aeromédicas y asistencia médica y odontológica, en coordinación con las autoridades de salud pública.
